She begins with a chapter on planning gardens--a so-called front garden, a water garden, a sunny and shady border, and what Verey calls an island bed of cool colors and an island bed of hot colors. Verey suggests 40 seasonal flower arrangements and gives a list of 64 essential plants for the flower arranger's garden. Each listing gives information on the plant's hardiness, size, color, sun and soil requirements, and uses.
