Motive becomes apparent to Superintendent of Police Basman Kiet after the autopsy reveals that McCloud swallowed four Burmese pigeon blood rubies. Working slowly, Kiet eventually accumulates enough evidence to tie in a cruel and greedy lieutenant colonel and the leader of the Luongan communists.
